Pregnancy Travel Insurance

It's an exciting time, announcing you are bringing a new human onto planet Earth, and of course there will be lots to plan and organise around the home, but what if you are planning to travel? 

Perhaps you had booked an overseas holiday before you knew you were expecting, you may need to make one last trip to the office in London or New York to hand over before the maternity leave begins or maybe you are planning one last pre-baby holiday to get some energy boosting rest and relaxation prior to life's new priorities kicking in; but whatever the reason you will be travelling with an extra passenger and you will want to be sure to have the very best of protection for you both.

Here at Easy Travel Insurance we offer some coverage for you while you are pregnant automatically provided certain conditions outlined in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) are met. If your pregnancy does not meet the criteria in the PDS we also offer you the option to apply for cover for travel while pregnant up until the 24th week of pregnancy. This means cover can be provided up to and including 23 weeks and 6 days gestation. 

You will need to complete a medical assessment for your pregnancy if you are aware of the pregnancy at the relevant time if there have been complications with this pregnancy or a previous pregnancy, if you have a multiple pregnancy e.g. twins or triplets; and/or if the conception was medically assisted e.g. using assisted fertility treatment including hormone therapies or IVF.

If you know you are pregnant when you are applying for single trip cover and in the case of Annual Multi Trip travel plans, when the policy is issued or when the first part of your trip is paid for, whichever comes last, you will need to apply for cover.

Cover is only provided for serious, unexpected pregnancy complications that occur up until the 24th week of pregnancy i.e. up to 23 weeks, 6 days. Gestational age is measured in weeks and days and is calculated from the last known date of Your menstrual period or calculated from staging ultrasound.

Childbirth is not covered.

Costs relating to the health or care of a new-born child are not covered, irrespective of the stage of pregnancy when the child is born.
